JACKIE GREENE AND BLUE ROSE MUSIC RELEASE GOOD ADVICE MUSIC VIDEO BY ANIMATION LEGEND BILL PLYMPTON

THE MODERN LIVES – VOL. 1 EP
AVAILABLE OCT 13, 2017

WATCH THE VIDEO ON NO DEPRESSION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, NY (October 6, 2017) – Jackie Greene and Blue Rose Music have partnered with Academy Award-nominated “king of indie animation” Bill Plympton to create a short film inspired by the songs from his new EP The Modern Lives – Vol. 1, out October 13 via Blue Rose Music. With a "Vonnegut-like humor" that "looks at modern condition and fearlessly callsit out for its moral bankruptcy" (No Depression), Greene tackles the great social paradoxes of the 21st century: technology meant to simplify life can complicate it in unimaginable ways; crowded cities can be the loneliest places to live; andconstructs meant to connect people can leave them feeling more isolated thanever. Plympton's unique brand of surrealism and the colorful characters that hecreates adds an exhilarating animated experience to these musical themes.

This week, Jackie Greene released the second video in the series for "GoodAdvice,” a cover of a rare blues song, via the roots rock music site, NoDepression. “This is a song I learned through an old J.B. Lenoir record I had lyingaround. I’d been listening to it for years and it sort of got in my bones, in a way,”says Greene. “I learned later that the legendary Willie Dixon may have had ahand in the writing, although nobody really knows for sure. I had a hell of a timefiguring out what the lyrics were, which made it fun. I ended up taking what Ithought was the best of both versions and came up with my own. This was thefirst song I recorded in my basement. Mainly, as a test run to see if I could evenwork in such a limited environment. It came out just fine, I think.”Bill Plympton adds, "As I understand it, the song was recorded by the late, greatblues musician Willie Dixon. So, I put Mr. Dixon in the video, playing the bassand I assume that's his mother, who is giving good advice. I really love the union of my sketchy line-drawing style and the old bluesy song. I think they work really well together. "Read Greene's interview with No Depression here: http://shorefi.re/2xR0ZJz The first video in the collaboration between Jackie and Bill was the song "Modern Lives," described by Paste Magazine as "a zinging song of contemporarycommentary" and by Mother Church Pew as "a brain massaging wonder. “Modern Lives,” the first single from the EP, is climbing the adult alternative radiocharts where it is currently Top 40 and the EP is Top 20 on the Americana Radiochart.

Both tracks are available now for streaming, along with the EP pre-order. Fanswho pre-order the EP on iTunes will receive "Modern Lives" and "Good Advice" instantly. You can watch the new video below, along with "Modern Lives" in case you missed it first time!

SPRAWLING 21-TRACK SET
OUT TODAY VIA BLUE ROSE MUSIC

“It was very cool for me to be able to re-imagine Steve Forbert’s song ‘I Blinked Once.‘ I was drawn to his great lyrics and ability to take a simple idea and craft it into a memorable song. We gave it a harder edge in the production and turned it into a duet with myself and the legendary Bekka Bramlett, whose energy is a thing to behold.” - John Oates

“My thanks go to Blue Rose Music for putting together this entirely flattering compilation!”
- Steve Forbert
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, NY (October 6, 2017) - Nearly two-dozen artists from across the musical spectrum have come together to celebrate the catalog of “quintessential journeyman” (No Depression) Steve Forbert with An American Troubadour: The Songs Of Steve Forbertout today on Blue Rose Music. Featuring performances by John Oates and Bekka Bramlett, Robert Earl Keen, Jim Lauderdale, Todd Snider, Jackie Greene, John Popper, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, and more, the 21-track collection spans the Mississippi native’s four-decade career and features both faithful homages and adventurous reimaginings of some of his most beloved songs. Live For Live Musicwho premiered the full album stream, noted the creativity, "with each artists putting their own unique twist on some of Forbert's most well-loved tunes."

Hailed by The New York Times as “an introspective, homespun philosopher,” Steve Forbert relocated to New York City in the late 1970’s and released his debut album, Alive On Arrival, to enormous critical acclaim. Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild recently reflected that "now or then, you would be hard-pressed to find a debut effort that was simultaneously as fresh and accomplished,” comparing it to “a great first novel by a young author who somehow managed to split the difference between Mark Twain and J.D. Salinger.” Forbert’s follow-up, Jackrabbit Slim, went gold on the strength of hit single “Romeo’s Tune,” which reached #11 on the Billboard charts and helped cement his status as a genuine craftsman in it for the long haul. In the decades since his breakthrough, Forbert has tirelessly toured the world, released a slew of studio and live albums, earned a GRAMMY nomination, and seen his songs recorded by the likes of Rosanne Cash, Keith Urban, and Marty Stuart.

“Some say that Steve is too young to have a ‘tribute’ record and I think that’s true because Steve has a lot of music left in him,” says Blue Rose Music founder Joe Poletto. “In my mind, this project is not a tribute but rather its intention is to recognize the spirit of the troubadour in all of those artists who follow their life’s path like Steve with purpose and passion.”

LEGENDARY SIDEMAN JASON CROSBY STEPS CENTERSTAGE WITH DEBUT SOLO ALBUM CRYPTOLOGIC, OUT TODAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, NY (September 29, 2017) – After nearly three decades as one of music’s most in-demand sidemen, Jason Crosby will release his debut solo album, Cryptologic, today via Blue Rose Music. Split essentially into two halves, one in which Crosby plays nearly every instrument himself, and another in which he’s backed by Golden State stalwarts The Mother Hips, the record showcases both Crosby’s instrumental prowess and his unflinching honesty as a lyricist and singer. Check out the Relix premiere of lead single “Final Step” here: http://bit.ly/2wnmCzs

Richly cinematic and enchantingly playful, Cryptologic was recorded in two whirlwind sessions with producer/engineer Karl Derfler (Tom Waits, Dave Matthews). The first, conducted in the spring of 2016, featured Crosby playing roughly a dozen different instruments, deliberately crafting each song from the ground up by himself with an ambient, compellingly visual quality. The second session, a more raw and reckless affair that went down just a few months later, tapped into the wild and collaborative spirit of rock and roll that’s always flowed through Crosby’s veins, as he captured a new batch of songs (co-written with Tim Bluhm) live in the studio.

If Crosby’s name isn’t immediately familiar, his keyboard/violin/guitar playing most likely is. The multi-instrumental virtuoso has toured and recorded with a who’s who of legendary artists, including Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Pete Seeger, Dave Matthews, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Robert Randolph, and Susan Tedeschi among others. He’s played on over 40 albums, graced the stages of the world’s biggest festivals, and appeared on television everywhere from The Tonight Show and Austin City Limits to Jools Holland and the GRAMMY Awards. Upon relocating from NYC to California, he took up gigs with Jackie Greene, The Mother Hips, John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring, and Grateful Dead icons Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, and he soon discovered an audience hungry for his own original material.

It was in California that Crosby met Blue Rose Music founder Joe Poletto, and their instant connection felt like a sign from the universe that the time had arrived to take the plunge and record his long-awaited solo debut.

"I'm extremely happy and proud to have had this opportunity to release Cryptologic with Blue Rose Music,” says Crosby. “Joe Poletto has been a guiding force since moving to California, and it's been an honor to be selected by him and the Blue Rose Music team to be a part of their music collective foundation."

Crosby will celebrate the album’s release with a sold-out headline show tonight at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA, before heading east for a special in-the-round performance with Jackie Greene, Steve Earle, Steve Forbert, Joan Osborne, and Anders Osborne October 18 at Red Bank, NJ’s historic Count Basie Theater as part of the Blue Rose Foundation’s annual benefit concert.

Jackie Greene Announces His Forthcoming EP
The Modern Lives Vol I Available October 13
Via Blue Rose Music/The End Records

July 6, 2017 - We are pleased to announce Jackie Greene’s upcoming EP The Modern Lives Vol 1, comprised of six songs showcasing his “natural and intuitive connection with… just about any musical instrument” (San Francisco Chronicle), self-recorded and produced by Jackie Greene in Brooklyn, New York. The EP is available on October 13, 2017 via Blue Rose Music/The End Records on digital, CD and vinyl.

On his new EP, Jackie draws inspiration from some of the great social paradoxes of our 21st century world: that the technology designed to simplify our lives can actually complicate them in ways we'd never imagined, that the most crowded cities can actually be the loneliest places to live, that the constructs meant to connect us to each other can actually leave us feeling more isolated than ever.

This release marks the first distribution and promotion company by The End Records. The End Records’ CEO Andreas Katsambas explains, “We are pleased to provide our full services to Blue Rose Music, a new entity that inspires with its support to the music scene and charity initiatives. Jackie Greene is the perfect artist to initiate this, as his new songs are standouts!"

Says Joe Poletto, “The world is filled with talent and there are plenty of stories to be told. For us, choosing the artists and the projects we support is all about the people. Our philosophy is simple – we work with people we admire. Artists with deep passion and creative talent, who genuinely play well with others, thrive in a collaborative environment. Jackie Greene is undoubtedly who and what we stand for - a true musician’s musician, whose relentless touring and recording schedule fuels us to work just as hard.”

"It's essentially a venture that's going to allow me to release music in the way I've always wanted to," says Greene. "I've realized over the years that the homebrew aspect of what I do is very important to my aesthetic, and part of that is being able to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Joe and his team really get that," he continues. "I have complete and total freedom artistically and musically now, which means I don't have to play by the old rules anymore. That's really exciting to me."

About Jackie Greene:
Since the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album Gone Wanderin’, Jackie has built an endearing audience through a relentless touring schedule with the likes of BB King, Mark Knopfler, Susan Tedeschi, and Taj Mahal. In just the last four years, he has played lead guitar with The Black Crowes on their Layin’ Down With #13 World Tour, recorded and toured with Trigger Hippy - his supergroup with Joan Osborne - and performed over 250 shows of his own all while continuing to record and release his solo work. Jackie is a frequent member of Phil Lesh & Friends, and sits in with countless other artists like Tedeschi Trucks Band, Govt Mule, Mississippi All-Stars, Amy Helm, Steve Earle, and Bob Weir.

Blue Rose Music is an artist collective that brings a technology start-up structure to the music business, with comprehensive, value based business development and guidance for the artist. Greene’s debut album for Blue Rose Music will be released later this year, with fans being treated to a stream of creative and musical content leading up to the street and digital release date. A full-length concert film of the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is also in the works, scheduled to film during Greene’s forthcoming Sweetwater To Sweetwater tour.

As both a solo artist and band front man, Greene has a vast amount of experience both in the studio and onstage, serving as the lead guitarist for the Black Crowes “Lay Down With Number 13” worldwide tour, as leader (with Joan Osborne) of the super group Trigger Hippy and as a frequent member of the Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh’s touring ensemble Phil Lesh & Friends.

As a trail blazing new business model for the music industry, Blue Rose Music will assist in the business and creative development of select musicians and projects. Founded by Joe Poletto (who has over three decades of experience in media and technology, serving at an executive level for Microsoft, WebTV, HBO and Comedy Central) the intention of the company is to both nurture and enable artists to reach their creative and financial goals while supporting each other in their craft. As a business with a social conscience, Blue Rose Music donates a portion of all revenue to The Blue Rose Foundation, which provides pre-school scholarships to financially disadvantaged children.

In making the announcement, Joe Poletto states: “We are incredibly excited to have Jackie join the Blue Rose Music family. This is something that we can all be proud of.”

I look forward to working with the artist friendly and forward thinking Blue Rose team on my upcoming releases and growing my touring business.”

About the Blue Rose Foundation

The Blue Rose Foundation believes that equal access to resources starts children on an early pathway to success, and strengthens families and communities. By awarding preschool scholarships to children from economically disadvantaged families, they foster a life-long love of learning and provide children with the tools to reach their full potential. The Blue Rose Foundation was created to honor the memories of our family members, friends, teachers, and mentors. To pay tribute to those who inspired us, we support programs that give children the ability to reach new heights of success. Reaching at-risk children early is critical to this success.

In Sonoma County, where Blue Rose Foundation’s efforts are concentrated, approximately 15% of children live below the poverty line. Low-cost and free preschool programs are available for families in need, but demand far exceeds the supply. In 2011, there were over 100 more eligible children 5 years of age and younger, than there were available spaces in subsidized care programs. The Blue Rose Foundation aims to close that gap.
