Shannon Sanders

Shannon Sanders is a three-time GRAMMY, two-time Emmy, and Dove Award-winning songwriter and producer with more than 25 years in music. He has served as co-musical director for India.Arie and the Fisk Jubilee Singers, and founded Nashville’s 102.1 The VILLE, a station dedicated to classic soul, R&B, and local artists. In 2024, he received the Academy of Country Music’s Lifting Voices Award.

His creative work extends deeply into the Blue Rose ecosystem, where he has musically directed live performances for Jackie Greene, bringing in The McCrary Sisters as featured artists for a series of sold-out shows across the U.S. He has also produced three tracks for Blue Rose that highlight a more urban-leaning side of Americana, expanding the label’s sonic palette while staying rooted in its core songwriting tradition.

He currently serves as Executive Director of Creative at Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) in Nashville, where he signs and develops top talent while supporting songwriters and publishers through education, networking, and showcase programming. A respected industry advocate, he serves on multiple boards including the CMA, ACM, NCVC, and the National Museum of African American Music, and is active with the Recording Academy and Leadership Music. A Tennessee State University alumnus and Hall of Fame inductee, Sanders was also recognized by Black Enterprise as one of its 100 Modern Men of Distinction.
